We are looking for an experienced and proactive Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead the trading activities of a pioneering and relevant mining project in Latam. The BDM will be responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing a business and logistics strategy that prioritizes both maximizing revenue from existing customers and driving access to new clients and markets. The role requires maintaining a positive professional relationship with industrial companies and the use of techniques to improve profits, while monitoring sales progress to ensure that corporate goals are met.

A suitable candidate has 10+ years of experience in a similar position, preferably in Mining and/or Trading companies that commercialize primary raw material (i.e. iron ore, coal, etc), or other commodities associated to large and complex supply chain networks. The candidate should possess excellent negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills and must be able to work with great autonomy. The commercial experience associated with the Asian market (China particularly) will be especially valued. Availability and willingness to travel internationally on a variable basis is required.

To excel in this role, candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in fields such as Foreign Trade, International Relations, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or other pertinent disciplines. Proficiency in English is a fundamental requirement, while fluency in Portuguese and a Chinese language (specifically Mandarin) would be highly advantageous. Additionally, a deep understanding of import/export operations, regulations, and Incoterms is essential to thrive in this position. Challenges

  • Conduct high-level industry research to develop effective sales and pricing solutions/strategy.
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with existing customers, seeking to improve value to all parties.
  • Create a portfolio of new business customers and develop commercial relationships across diverse markets.
  • Implement a S&OP, detailing strategy, objectives and planned activity.
  • Coordinate the S&OP with the mining operation, ensuring the company can meet the needs of its final buyers in an efficient, cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Execute comprehensive customer account plans and promote the company to prospective customers.
  • Proactively provide industry and market intelligence to the Board.
  • Deliver all required reports, forecasts and CRM updates.
  • Review sales contracts, in liaison with the Legal team, to ensure they meet legal, and corporate guidelines.
  • Manage junior staff and any outsourced logistics providers.
